Homage to Robo Shankar

    Deriving his prefix Robo from the robot dances that he performed in villages, Shankar born in 1978 came to be known as Rob Shankar and became a familiar figure to the Tamil audience first through his role play as standup comedian and then by his vigorous appearances in the Star Vijay programme, Kalakkapovadhu Yaaru that made him a home name. Robo Shankar's entire family is now involved in Tamil cinema, with his wife and daughter also playing identifiable roles in films. It is now the most grievous fact that Robo Shankar, the growing comedian and character actor faced an untimely death, following severe health issues that struck his sudden death knell. 

  What is special about Robo Shankar is his speedy manner of dialogue delivery with absolute clarity. He has acted in about seventy five films and his most popular films are Idharkuthaan Asaipattaaya Balakumara {as Sound Shankar}Vaayai Mudi Pesavum {as Matta Ravi}Velaiyinnu Vandhuttaa Vellakaaran,{as MLA afflicted with amnesia} Velaikaaran,Romeo,Mr Local, Maari & Maari 2.,Vishal's Irumbuthirai ,Kalakalappu 2 and Kalathil Sandhippom  He has performed a dance in Rajini's Padayappa and played a significant role in Ajith's Viswasam. He has appeared both as a cop in films like Chennai Kaadhal  Aaraadhu Sinam and Yutha Satham, and as a henchman in Joot and Sakkapodu Podu Raja.

  Actors dying at the growing stage of their career is one of the worst tragedies in the film industry. This is how the death of actors of dynamism, like Marimuthu and Mayilusamy greatly upset the film lovers. Robo Shankar was speedily mounting the ladder of Tamil Cinema with his lively performance ability striking a positive core with the audience mood. His sudden death is most unexpected, and it causes immense grief to everyone either directly or indirectly connected with Tamil cinema. Robo Shankar was a Kamal devotee, and Kamalahasan has posted a grief-stricken message in the X website, that exhibits his unique mode of sharing his thoughts.
