Every film maker has a bonding with their pet genres of cinematic experience. Their creativity and their imaginative course of narration of events in sequences, hardly deviate from their favourable genres, based on which they choose their themes and narrative modes. If myths attracted the soul of A.P.Nagarajan, sentiments and emotional thrust occupied the mind of A.C Thirulok chander. If P.Madhavan believed in narrating the practical realities of life with compact emotional vibes, K.S.Gopalakrishnan and Bharadhiraja were more homely, with the rural life zones. However, even between the two, K.S.Gopalakrishnan confined himself to family dramas while Bharathiraja happily dwelled in the domain of rural romance. K.Balachander, who was an idealist at the beginning of his film career, became a revolutionary in the latter part of his creative journey.

In this list, now comes V.Sekhar, an extremely impressive film maker of middle and lower middleclass family experiences, with absolute dedication to what actually keeps happening in each such family from time to time. This article is an earnest homage to this sterling film maker, who passed away yesterday.
V.Sekhar was initially an assistant film director for Bhagyaraj for the film Enga Sinna Raasaa. Starting his own career as a full-fledged film maker, with his TV serial experience making notable hits like Veetukku Veedu and Porandha Veedaa Pugundha Veeda, it became a significant celluloid experience for V.Sekhar between Neengalum Herodhaan and Aalukkoru Aasai.While Nizhalkal Ravi was his first hero as Tiger Premnath in Neengalum Herodhaan, Sathyaraj was his final hero in Aalukkoru Aasai. His invincible film career threw dynamic pieces like Pondaatti Sonnaa Kettukkanum,Porandha Veeda Pugundha Veeda,Naan Petha Magane,Viralukketha Veekkam, Pongalo Pongal, Varavu Ettana Selavu Pathana,Koodi Vaazhndhaal Kodi Nanmai,Onna Irukka Kathukkanum,Veettoda Maappillai and Kaalam Maaripochu..
One could reasonably reflect upon the underlying invaluable ethical essence, filling these succulent titles that the eminent film maker gave his films. The core integral features of a joint, middle class family, such as mutuality in sharing responsibilities, magnificence of family unity, prudence in dealing with money matters that guard and govern a joint family, dangers of male chauvinism coupled with the vagaries of men and women, external influences affecting the family spirit, flexibility in inter personal relationship, be it husband and wife, or mother in law and daughter in law, pampering of male children with little understanding of the female block are some of the kernel ingredients of V.Sekhar's world of cinema.

Bhanupriya,Radhika,Oorvasi Kushbhu, Roja Sangeetha,and Meena were the heroines of his films. Among character actors,Vijayakumar, Jai Shamkar Rajesh,and Vinu Chakravarthi with Manorama, and Vadivukkarasi, compactly constituted the connecting link of the family network.
Among comedians, Goundamani,Janagaraj, Vivek, Vadivelu Senthil,Kumarimuthu and Vaiyyapuri,with Kovai Sarala and Kalpana, filled the films with exuberant, at times even aggressive humour.
