Jailer 2 A sequel that steals the show

Sequel in filmmaking is a common phenomenon when the first film that hit the screens was a block buster .It is the temptation for making sequels of hits that brought in, sequels to films like Singam, Saamy, Sandakkozhi, Kanchana series and Vikram. Of these only Vikram 2 of Kamalahasan made a huge profit, with worldwide successful shows. Others did not surpass the merit of their first version. But Nelson Dilipkumar's Jailer 2 has sustained the tempo and mass appeal of Jailer {1} on account of its four pillars such as the Superstar, the film maker Nelson, the music mastermind Anirudh and the cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan. At the centre of the success formula, stands the pillar, called black humour.

Both Jailer {1} and Jailer 2 could be called pan India films on account of the induction of great actors from the South and North of the Indian sub-continent. It is very difficult for any film maker to spread violence in a film without making it look gory and alarming. But Nelson Dhilip Kumar has specialized in the art of dealing with a heavy load of violence with cotton candy humour, casually poured on all bloody weapons and make the audience feel that it is not that kind of violence that usually makes the audience unnerved.

As a cinematographer Vijay Kartik Kannan has made the film an exhaustive visual extravaganza to the extent of creating a happy-go-lucky mood against many negative characters  like Suraj Venjaramoodu,  S.J.Suryah,Mithun Chakraborthi and Vidya Balan who are thirsting for blood.Vidaya Balan's mode of dialogue delivery is of a refreshing kind. The Appa{daady} sentiment frequentlyvoiced by her and S.J Suryah, is a pillow of humour against the bed of bullets and knives that they are used to. This is another contrastive baggage of Nelson to ease the audience mood for a laughter session. The credit for the hilarity component of the first half is shared by Namo Narayana {as Moorthi }&co and Yogi Babu. The former has in fact, virtually sliced more than half of the mass of Yogi Babu. Namo Narayana will go a long way from now on.

Anirudh's Background score is a special asset for the entire progression of the film with titillating and aggressive songs blended with ravishing choreography, enticing the audience, though lyrics play a second role in the midst of the most laudable musical might. Among the galaxy of actors that include the cameo appearance of Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Hrithik Roshan Jackie Shroff and Vijay Sethupathy {at the culmination of the film suggestive of yet another sequel to Jailer 2}, Rajinikanth stands as the tower of strength, saying no to ageing and carrying a magnetic look in his eyes. Rajinikanth is perhaps the most gifted actor of Tamil cinema to stay strongly rooted to the screen and the minds of the viewers.

The scene in which S.J.Suryah exposes the fact that it was the jailer who killed his son and hid the fact from his wife, daughter-in -law and grandson, sharply exhibits the emotional segment affecting both the Jailer and his family and when S.J Surayh kicks the Jailer's face with his shoes, it creates a powerful dramatic effect. Rajini's composure and submission to truth and his significant rise in tone wherever he has to control the situation, create a symbiotic link in the total evolution of his role play.

These are days when most of the people are waiting for the OTT release of many films. But Jailer 2 is one of the films that is eligible to draw the audience to the theatres for its effective continuation of the sequence of events narrated in its earlier version and for making its narration both captivating and convincing from the start to its end. There is a huge crowd of stars doing their best in the film, and there is a huge crowd in the theatres to watch how it all happens with a mesmerizing touch.
