Lean in size but lofty in role play

   A look of innocence loaded with mischief,was the most impressive role play of Manobala who is no more today.Manobala already finds a place in this blog in the post 'Tamil Film directors as actors'. Thanks to Kamalahasan,Manobala came to Tamil cinema as the assistant director of Bharathiraja for the film Puthiya Vaarpugal and played roles in his films like Tik TIk TIk  Niram Maaradha Pookal and Kallukkul Eeram.

  Manobala had directed about twenty films with mass heroes like Rajinikanth{Oor Kaavalan} VijayaKanth { Sirai Paravai,En Purushanthaan Enakku Mattundhaan,Moonrezhuthil en Moochirukkum}Prabu {Moodu Mandhiram} Karthik Muthuraman{Aagaaya Gangai& Dhoorathu Pachai}Mohan{Pillai Nila} Sathyaraj {Mallu Vetti Minor}and Rehaman{Karuppu Vellai}He has also directed Thendral Sudum that had the story line of Kalaignar Karunanidhi. Above all,he had also directed a film of Sivaji Ganesan(Paarambaryam)

  As a supporting actor his contribution was vast and varied.As a fake Swamiji,as a broker,as a ticket collector,as villain's henchman and as minister's sidekick,as a ludicrous cop,as a school teacher and college principal his roles were many.All his roles were dominated by comedy fervour on account of his Nagesh-like looks and clearly articulated dialogues.He was always a treat to the audience both in looks and character portrayal.With more than 300 films in his kitty,he was an indispensable supporting actor.Manobala has also done Tamil serials.

  Manobala was an actor in the line of Manivannan.He would dominate his fellow actors by his satirical tone and bullying words that would ultimately boomerang and force him to surrender to his own designs.Manobala could not be called an expert in delivering emotions like Manivannan.But his comedy side always helped him to create the greatest appeal to draw the audience to his side.His lank and lean constitution was stuffed with fatty lot of hmour to be remembered as a monumental comedy giant  in association with actors like Ragava Lawrence,Vadivelu Vivek,Santhanam Soori, Mayilsamy and several others.

  As his films were many and as his roleplay was always unique,titles of films do not matter.It is Manobala that matters,because his sync with all actors was significant in all the films that he did.Lean and less in size,but lofty and leading in performance! That was Manobala.He deserves our loving memories.
