Tamil cinema has seen many sequels failing in the box office to let their prequels stay perpetually fixed in audience memory. Singam 2 &3, Sandakozhi 2 and Samy 2 are standing examples in this regard. But to turn the tables in favor of sequels, here comes Jigardhana Double X, a sequel to the film Jigardhanda released in 2014.
Though both the films are the products of Karthik Subbaraj Jigardhanda Double X certainly doubles up the speed of its creative drive to outshine his first film Jiggardhanda. The main reason for its doubled-up drive could be the poignant theme factor hitting the imagination and thought process of the audience, with a totally different verve when compared to its predecessor.
No doubt the first version of Jigardhsnda was a bold dark comedy kickstart of Subburaj that took Bobby Simha to fame in the line of romantic poet George Gordon Byron, who is said to have woken up one morning and found himself famous. The film also gave due weightage to the role of Sidharth. However, unlike the former film which safely travelled on the new track of comedy this sequel which has a lukewarm start, takes its lead and surpasses its prequel in the totality of its narration by transiting from the comedy lane to an absolutely gripping tale of the exploited forest tribes and the elephants undone, for the sake of their tusks.
Ragava Lawrence as Alliyan Caesar ,S.J.Suryah as Kirubai Arokiyaraj,Nimisha Sajayan as Alliyan's wife and Naveen Chandra as DSP Rathnakumar have all contributed their best in role delivery to make this sequel not a mere succession of Jigardhanda, but a substantial success story with an outshining thrust in its dynamism and appeal to the audience. A special mention has to be made about the roaring and monstrous roleplay of Vidhu as Shettani especially about the way he pounces on the elephants and later on Lawrence.Jigardhanda Double X would remain as a special film for Ragava Lawrence.
The music of Santhosh Narayanan comfortably and comprehensively travels along with the narration of the film both in background score and composition of songs. The cameras take a gory round in presenting each scene with visual force that simultaneously hits the eyes and minds of the audience. The entire team of Jigardhanda Double X deserves audience appreciation for its unique mode of presentation. This piece of Karthik Subbaraj establishes the power of cinema to unfold the varied parameters of evil and thereby project itself as the torch bearer for the afflicted sections of mankind.Special courtesy to Netflix for taking this worth watching film to each one's home links.
