Beady eyed Madhan Bob made his face neatly imprinted on audience minds with his beautifully projected eyeballs. Among all actors he alone was capable of a serial blast of laughter stopping only when he willed it to stop. As a comedian-cum-character actor, he cut a niche for himself through his facial profile, and unique mode of dialogue delivery. always coupled with laughter.
Directors like Balu Mahendra, K.Bala chander, Vikraman, Hari, Malayalam film maker Siddique, Sundar C and several others were sweetly drawn towards him. He was compact in roles such as advocate, doctor, politician's secretary and family head. Who can forget his roles in films like Friends and Giri unwittingly falling a victim into the hands of Vadivelu. Especially in Giri whenever he returned home after hospitalization Vadivelu would again fall upon him and return him again to the hospital for treatment. His vulnerability to other comedians was a special feature of humour in many films.
Madhan Bob born as Krishnamurthy Madhan stepped into Tamil cinema sometime in the mid Nineteen Eighties. He would have acted in about 200 films besides taking a vital part in the T.V show Asathapovadhu Yaaru.He had a great passion for music and is said to have influenced the musical mind of A.R.Rehman too. His association with Kamalahasan could also be seen in films like Thenaly Sathi Leelavadhi, Nammavar and Magalir Mattum. In his passing away, Tamil cinema has lost one of the most genial and heartwarming comedians cum character actors. May his lovely soul rest in peace.
